31.3.3302:
After 3068 Jumps covering 91643 ly, I arrived in the Beagle Point System today and landet on the 7th Planet to meet commanders DanDak and SimonWoods. Perhaps tomorrow some practice formation flying will be done for our approach on saturday. Then, the week of festivities begin. o7 you fellow explorers!
20.3.3302:
Today, safely landed at WP21, I met cmdr Voorheez in person, finally. Together with TracerTom, Simon Woods and Gertymoon we drove around the basecamp in our SRVs, pictures will follow. Now there are only two Waypoints and ~16000ly left in this journey. The end of our way together to beagle point sadly is in sight.
28.2.3302:
Many things happened since I last updated this page, but i was rather busy. I drove srv together with Tom at WP13 and with Simon Woods at Waypoint 11. I visited the core, Sagittarius A* on 18.2.3302. On 27.2. I witnessed Simon Woods and Gertymoon climbing an appr. 1.5km high creater in their srv’s. Now, I’m at Waypoint 16 where I met some very friendly commanders. More than 30kly from home – and still not feeling alone 🙂
Tomorrow I’ll start the 6000ly journey to WP17. From here on the star density will be lower since we head away from the core. Also, distances from WP to WP will rise, seeing an 8kly in between and the distance between the very last two WPs will be 10000ly.
17.2.3302:
Plotting in the core vicinity is much harder than anticipated, but with the good hints from a few fellow commanders I can handle that now. I arrived in the WP10 system and took a few photos of the destination planet before I went on to WP11. I arrived there today but didn’t land, that I will do tomorrow.
14.2.3302:
I arrived at WP9 without further incident, but I didn’t set down on the Planet. Next time I will do that would be the gathering at Sagittarius A*. Tomorrow I’ll start the journey to WP10.
12.2.3302:
Somewhere on my way to WP9 I decided to set down on a planet for the night and for the second time I wasn’t careful enough. As a result my ships hull is now down to 91%.
11.2.3302:
Without incident I made the rest of the distance to the vicinity of Waypoint 9. I discovered two more earth like worlds during that trip. WP9 is the first step into Stage 3, so it seems I have made up enough distance in advance to cover my absence on saturday. If all goes well, I’ll be with the main fleet on sunday again. Time to make some overdue repairs on the vessel.
10.2.3302:
I had to leave WP8 early because I can not travel on the upcoming saturday. So I traveled appr. 900ly today in the general direction of the next waypoint. During this journey I discovered my first earth like world ! A few jumps later i was granted my second one. See pics of it in the galerie. Also, I had an interesting encounter with a neutron being only ~3ls away from the main Star.
9.2.3302:
Only three jumps away, I arrived at new botany bay without incident. Made new friends and chatted a bit. Tomorrow I will set course to the next waypoint „The Athaip Wisteria Nebula“.
8.2.3302:
On my way to WP8, I ran into my first neutron today. Not much to see at 0.21ls distance, I thought to give it a closer look. Barely touching the throttle I was kicked out of supercruise loosing another 2 percent of my hull which is now at 94 percent. Seems one has to be more careful around those things…
A few jumps later I was rewarded with my first black hole. Check the galerie 🙂
7.2.3302:
I took Waypoints 6 and 7 without incident and travels where smooth. It started on my way to WP7 when I noticed the rise in star density. Those views alone made this trip worth while. Can’t wait to see what else is out there. Also, added some new friends to my list which now must contain more than 20 commanders. Currently, I’m 1800 ly into the way to WP8.
28.1.3302:
Just a quick note; I arrived at waypoint 5 without trouble but had a hard landing. I lost another percent so my Hull is now at 96%.
25.1.3302:
Today was the gathering at Waypoint 4 in the eagle nebula. Not much to say about that. A liddle chit-chat here and there, then I started my journey to WP5 which will also mark the end of stage one. I made two third of the distance today and on my way, I discovered a system containing 4 starts. Three of those where under 30 ls apart, the closest only 2.5ls.
The ship is holding well at 97% Hull with all modules running at 100% except for the powerplant. This module is currently at 98% and cannot be repaired by the AFMU. With appr. 10% of the way TO beagle point I wonder if the ship will make it there in one peace. Perhaps more cautious flying is advised, especially at scooping…..
23.1.3302:
After exploring the lagoon nebula and meeting the fleet on friday, I went on to waypoint 3 and arrived there around noon. Since everything on this journey is very well documented, finding the basecamp was very easy.
21.1.3302:
A few jumps into my way to waypoint 1 i recognized that the incident with the sun scooping left almost all modules with some damage. I decided, being not too far out, to return to inhabited space to repair my ship. Also, I fitted a second AFMU replacing the cargo hold. A few days later, after stopping by Thor’s Eye, I reached waypoint 1 on 18 Jan 3302. Since then, I meet cmdrs Maak and TracerTom occasionally. Currently I’m exploring the lagoon nebula sort of waiting for the gathering on Friday 22.
14.1.3302:
Lift off day – finally ! The begin of the journey was a bit difficult since some bugs presented themselves… Nevertheless I got going at 20:00 hours among all the others. During takeoff appr. 12 other commanders where around me. On invitation i winged up with cmdr TracerTom. A few jumps into the journey we teamed up with cmdr maak and we traveled together until we reached
Praea EUQ HW-L B21-4 around 23:00 hours where we landet on planet 3A. After discussing about when and how to meet up in the following days, the other two commanders signed off. I started again and scanned all bodys in this system. Hopefully, we will continue to waypoint one together tomorrow. The ship did a nice job. Once i came a little bit close to the sun while refuelling, the Melanie took no damage.
13.1.3302:
After flying around a bit in my ASPx, I landed at Waypoint 0 in the Pallaeni system at around 21:00 in-game time. Now all there is to do is waiting for the time to take off and begin the journey….
12.01.3302 and the 2 weeks before:
On 28.12.3301 I decided to join the DW expidition. I registered early enough to make it into the official first fleet roster with #441 and also applied to the Kamzel in-game group and to the skype channel. In the two weeks before the start I rigged up an ASPx, gathered vital materials for the long journey. Also, tests where performed such as practice locating planetary coordinates, landing and jump ranges.
During the time after entering Kamzel group, I accepted appr. 12 friend requests 🙂
